Coin Strike: first impressions and the aiming trick that changed my game
I didn't expect to write much about Coin Strike. It's an arcade game about sliding coins across a board, how much is there to say? Turns out, a lot, once the physics got their hooks in me.
The first dozen stages are pure reflex and you'll clear them without thinking. The game really opens up when the boards get cluttered. That's when I stopped aiming for the coin I wanted and started aiming for the gentle glancing hit that leaves the next shot open.
My single biggest tip: pull back less than you think. Coin Strike rewards soft, controlled shots far more than big power swings. A slow coin that taps its target exactly stays on the board and sets you up, while a fast one scatters everything into chaos.
Also mute the music. The sound effect when a coin drops into a slot is genuinely satisfying, and the loop behind it is not. Once I did that I happily lost a whole evening to it.
It's a small game, but a well-made one. If you want something that fits a two-minute wait and still rewards practice, Coin Strike earns its spot on your home screen.
