Learn to read damage numbers and stop guessing

July 11, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Most tower defence and strategy games bury useful numbers behind small icons, and most players never look. That's a missed opportunity, because the math isn't hard.

Damage per second is the number that matters, not raw damage. A tower that hits for 10 twice a second beats one that hits for 15 once every two seconds, even though 15 looks bigger.

Watch for damage types too. Many games split armored and shielded enemies, and the wrong tower against the wrong enemy wastes your whole wave.

Range is quietly the most valuable stat. A longer range means more seconds of fire per enemy, which compounds across an entire level.

Spend five minutes reading your towers' stat sheets before a hard stage. I promise it feels better than losing three times and not knowing why.
